Mineral water conference in Miskolc

Between August 22 and 24, 2019, Miskolc hosted the 15th edition of the itinerant international scientific conference “Mineral Waters in the Carpathian Region”. As in previous years, Sapientia University was co-organizer of the event.

The opening event took place on August 22 at the University of Miskolc, where all participants have been greeted by dr. András Torma (rector of the University of Miskolc), Péter Pfliegler (deputy mayor of Miskolc), dr. Péter Szűcs (dean of the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering, president of the conference), as well as the co-presidents of the event: dr. Emőke Kiss-Tóth (dean of the Faculty of Healthcare), dr. László Lénárt (president of the board of trustees of the Foundation for Surface Waters), dr. Ladislav Tometz (assistant professor of the Technical University of Košice) and dr. István Máthé (assistant professor of Sapientia University).

Over 80 participants have registered to the conference from Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Serbia.

The opening event of the conference

The opening event was followed by five plenary lectures, as well as the presentation of further 24 papers and nine posters within two simultaneous sessions.

All interested participants had the opportunity to go on a field trip and visit the development works of the baths in Miskolctapolca, the State Hospital in Parádfürdő, where they received information on the preparation and use of medicinal mineral water with potassium alum, the wine cellar of Egri Korona Wine House in Demjén, Saliris Spa in Egerszalók, as well as Helli Wine Cellar, where they took part at a wine tasting dinner.
